One of a Kind Fashion for a Cause

Twenty 4 Seven Gunmetal

“Twenty 4 Seven” bag in “Gunmetal.”

No one wants to show up to an event with the same look as someone else. Who wants to be wearing the same dress as the girl on the other end of the bar? Even the thought makes me shudder.

While I cannot tell you how to prevent wearing the same dress or top as a fellow party-goer, I can tell you how to spice up your look and guarantee you will not be carrying the same bag as her.

Enter Nahui Ollin.  The handbag company produces handmade handbags that are not only good for the environment, but also help developing areas thrive. They set up shop in struggling communities in Mexico and provide jobs to adults in the area. The shops are set up in or near the schools, so parents can walk their children to school, and already be at work for the day. They are produced under Fair Trade and Sweatshop free practices, allowing families to make money while their children are being educated.

Mary Poppins Medium Barcode

Honey Dew Splash

The bags are made from misprinted or out of date candy wrappers and magazine pages that would otherwise be incinerated or destroyed. These wrappers are provided by Nahui Ollin’s business partners Tootsie, Disney, Hershey’s, PEZ, and Target.

“Candy wrapper bags? Won’t those look like something a 7-year-old would carry?”

No way! These chic bags come in all shapes, sizes, and colors to match any outfit or style. They make everything from the gray Gunmetal collection, to the colorful Floral line, to the trendy Metallic bags. There are bags for going out, running errands, and heading into the office. I want one for everyday of the week!

I am loving the “Splash” line and the “Metallic” line. And “Gunmetal?” Fabulous! My birthday is coming up, people! Hint.Hint.

Which of these lines do you like the best?

Cheers.

Missing College Student – Devon Minor

I normally like to blog about fashion and dating and charities, but this cause seemed more than worthy and time is of the essence.

Devon Minor is an 18 year old freshman at Geneva College, in Beaver Falls, right outside of Pittsburgh. He was last seen late last Wednesday or early Thursday morning, January 19 & 20. His family came in from the east side of the state and filed a missing persons report on Saturday.

Anyone with information should contact Beaver Falls Police Department at 724-846-7000 or Geneva College security at 724-846-9632. There is a facebook group dedicated to searching and praying for Devon’s safe return, and the Geneva College website has released this statement regarding his disappearance.

I hope you will all join me in praying for Devon, his family, and his friends.

This search would not have started as soon as it did has his roommates not taken notice to the fact that Devon left his keys and cell phone behind. If you have roommates, make sure you are looking out for one another. Granting privacy is one thing, but always have one another’s backs, and keep an eye out for unusual activity. It could be a sign that something has happened to them, or that they are battling something you are not aware of.

We are praying for you Devon. Please return to your friends and family safely.

Cheers.

There’s a lovely RING to it…

Hydra Ring - Vivid Green - Swarovski Crystal Sterling Silver MADE TO ORDER

What girl doesn’t love getting a manicure before a big night out? When holding your cocktail at whatever party or event you are attending, having freshly manicured nails can really put the finishing touch on a look. Your hands are viewable to everyone at the party, whether you realize it or not. You carry your drink as you dance with your hands. You wave hello to old friends, and shake hands with new friends. You flirt with the cute bartender by touching his arm after his funny joke. (OK … maybe that’s just me…but his accent is SO hot!) No matter who you are, you are using your hands when you go out.

All the more reason to dress them up! Anyone can get a manicure, but you need something unique and fabulous to set your baby soft hands apart. That is when you turn to Etsy for some bling.

Ivory Glass Pearl Oversized Cluster RingSecret GardenCocktail Ring black rose on Shiny Silver Ring Base

A cocktail ring is the perfect way to draw more attention to that fabulous manicure, and put your outfit over the top.Whether you like a simple, gray pearl, or a flashy giant gem, there is something for everyone. I always feel a little more confident and poised when I am wearing a fabulous, chunky ring on my hand when I leave the house. Even the drive to where ever I am headed seems sexier when I look over the steering wheel at my bejeweled ring finger!

Which of these rings is your favorite?

Cheers.

Dear Rashard Mendenhall (you so fine.)

I saw you in church on Sunday morning, just hours before the AFC Championship game where you helped earn the win that will take the Steelers to their 8th Superbowl. I was the brunette with the fabulous black, ruffled shirt dress, gray tweed pumps, and red lipstick, drooling over you as you entered the sanctuary.

Rashard Mendenhall

I would like to that this opportunity to invite you to come back to our church again, where I will be more than happy to greet you with a holy kiss and share a Bible with you during the service.

You are a total babe. Marry me.

Thank you, Jesus, for your full, pouty lips.

Sincerely,

Miss B

Cheers

DIY Circle Scarf

Anyone who knows me is fully aware of my obsession with scarves. I love them for all seasons. Light, gauzy scarves for spring and summer. Thick warm scarves for winter, checked scarves to edge up an outfit. And of course, circle scarves in all weights and sizes. I love circle scarves. I think they are a great way to finish a look, and are easy for anyone to wear.

Recently, there have been a ton of variations on the circle scarf. Some are long and think. Others have strands of all lengths. Others even have braids or flowers added to them for some extra flair.

The only thing I hate about buying these scarves, is that many of the more unique ones cost quite a bit for a basic piece. I may only wear a particular scarf with one or two outfits. Spending a great deal on one scarf can seem silly at times. But I love my accessories! What’s a girl to do?

Your answer is the Do It Yourself Circle Scarf!

I came across a few scarves that I fell in love with and thought I might be able to tackle making them on my own. I found this helpful video on YouTube and will be tackling this project in the weeks to come!

I want to use this method to make a few variations of this scarf to create some of the other scarves I have posted today. I am so excited for my new scarves!

Will you be making any of these fun scarves? Do you have any fun DIY projects to share?

Cheers.

Who needs another purse…oh yeah … I do.

Esther in Caribe

I’m a sucker for a great handbag. I often find special handbags, meant specifically for one outfit, carry them once or twice, and then leave them to die in the back of my closet.

Yes, I have my everyday bags that I love. I’m currently carrying the cutest light gray BCBG satchel with tons of zippers and pockets. I LOVE this bag. Yet, when I go out on the town, I feel like I need something a little more special. Something unique that stands out. Not to mention, something smaller. A clutch that can only fit my keys, ID holder, and lipstick for my touching up…just in case I encounter a smooch-worthy moment.

These adorable clutches on Etsy are PERFECT for any social occasion where a big bag simply will not do. They come in all colors and patterns, and are the perfect size to carry around, or sit on a crowded dinner table, without being in the way.

Tavern Names in Natural
There is a style for everyone! They are also VERY reasonably priced, so you can either stock up for yourself and not feel guilty if it only gets used a few times, or you can use these fun bags as your new go-to birthday or gift for your female coworkers!
Which pattern is your favorite?
Cheers.
